Prior to my Canterbury MBA study, I was a Senior Credit and Customer Service Associate, having worked 5.5 years for Eli Lilly Asia Inc., China Headquarter of a US leading pharmaceutical company. My R&R at Lilly was to ensure demand and supply between Lilly’s first tier distributors and Lilly manufacture plants worldwide be always at an appropriate level, to support a robust Lilly’s sales growth in China market.
I wanted to grow myself from an individual contributor to a manager’s manager with top MNCs. I trusted an international MBA program will enable me to learn more business courses/disciplines and broaden my international business perspective in an expedited way. One year before my UC MBA program starting in 2001, my family decided to immigrate to NZ and we planned to settle down in the beautiful garden city of Christchurch. Without any hesitation, I chose the UC MBA, at University of Canterbury, the country’s top University.
I was so much so impressed at the Reception Cocktail of my 2001 MBA program, where I came across with a few amazing classmates, coming from various parts of the world. In particular, I felt privileged to get to know many of the Kiwi classmates, who had been so nice and friendly, giving adequate patience to classmates like me whose mother language is not English. I knew I could have been somewhat clumsy when trying to express my viewpoints in the English language, during the class workshops and/or doing the presentation on behalf of the team. Despite the culture differences experienced throughout the program, the shining parts of humanity always prevail between the classmates over many topics.
