Erskine Fellows bring international expertise to UC MBA

We are pleased to welcome a number of Erskine Fellows in 2023 for the first time since borders closed.

The Erskine programme has returned in 2023 and the UC MBA has welcomed several Erskine Fellows including Professor Arman Eshraghi - Cardiff Business School, Professor Stacy Wood - Poole College of Management, North Carolina State University, Professor Eusebio Scornavacca - W. P. Carey School of Business, Arizona State University, and Research Associate Dominic Hoerauf - University of Stuttgart (Germany).

The bequest by John Angus Erskine enables up to 70 visiting international senior academics to lecture at UC each year to undergraduates and postgraduate students (Erskine Fellowship). Around 25 UC academics are also awarded grants which enables them to travel to overseas institutions to enhance their skills and knowledge (Erskine Grants).

Professor Arman Eshraghi - Cardiff Business School

Professor Arman Eshraghi has a wealth of experience in the field of business, Arman brings a unique perspective to the program, combining his extensive academic background with practical insights from his work in the private sector.

Arman holds the Chair of Finance and Investment at Cardiff Business School. He is a Shimomura Fellow of the Development Bank of Japan, Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy and the Centre for Study of Decision-Making Uncertainty at UCL. At Cardiff, Arman directs the Fintech Research Group, and serves as Deputy Head of Section for Research, Impact and Innovation.

Formerly, Arman was at the University of Edinburgh, and has held visiting positions at the University of Manchester and University College London. Prior to academia, he was a management consultant in the banking and telecom sectors. Arman holds PhD in Finance from the University of Edinburgh, MBA with a finance concentration and BSc in Electrical Engineering, both from Sharif University in Tehran. His doctoral and post-doctoral research was highly commended by EFMD Global, Emerald Literati, SFE Rising Star, and EFG Young Scholar awards.

Arman is teaching MBAD670 Financial Technology and Behaviour which runs from 17 February until 7 May.

Research Associate Dominik Hoerauf - University of Stuttgart (Germany)

Dominik is a PhD candidate at the University of Stuttgart (Germany), where he works as a research and teaching associate at the Institute of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Science (ENI). Dominik holds an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from Friedrich Alexander University of Erlangen and a master’s degree in business administration from University of Stuttgart.

In 2019, Dominik spent some time in Sonderborg (Denmark) as a research trainee as well as here in Christchurch working with the mechanical engineering team at Tait Communications. Now back in NZ for a visit to UC Business School and Centre for Entrepreneurship to start working on a research and teaching collaboration between our institutions.

Dominik’s main research focus is AI and creativity and he is passionate about working together in international and interdisciplinary teams.

Professor Stacy Wood - Poole College of Management, North Carolina State University

Stacy Wood is a renowned scholar and academic leader in the field of marketing. She currently serves as a Langdon Distinguished University Professor and the Executive Director of the Consumer Innovation Collaborative at the Poole College of Management at North Carolina State University.

Stacy's research focuses on consumer behavior and decision-making, particularly in the areas of branding, advertising, and product design. Her work has been published in numerous prestigious academic journals, and she has received multiple awards and honors for her contributions to the field.

In addition to her research, Stacy is also a respected educator and mentor, having taught marketing courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels for over 20 years. She has also served in various leadership roles within the marketing community, including as President of the Association for Consumer Research and as a member of the Board of Directors for the American Marketing Association.

Overall, Stacy is a highly respected and accomplished scholar whose work has had a significant impact on the field of marketing. Her expertise and leadership make her a valuable asset to the Poole College of Management and the broader academic community.

Stacy joined Ekant Veer in teaching the Marketing elective this year and will be returning to the US at the end of April.

Professor Eusebio Scornavacca - W. P. Carey School of Business, Arizona State University

Eusebio Scornavacca is a renowned professor of Information Systems at the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. With over two decades of experience in academia, he has made significant contributions to the field of information systems, particularly in the areas of e-commerce, online consumer behavior, and social media.

With an impressive record of publications, including numerous articles in top-tier academic journals and several books on e-commerce and online consumer behavior. His research has been cited widely and has earned him accolades from his peers in the field.

Eusebio is known for his dedication to teaching and mentoring students and has won several awards for his teaching excellence. He is deeply committed to preparing the next generation of information systems professionals, and his students have gone on to pursue successful careers in industry and academia.

Eusebio will be teaching MBA673 Technology and Innovation Immersion: Using Digital Innovation to solve key business problems which runs from 15 June until 13 July.
